its very good pal. lovely colour used but i have 1 problem with it. Kratos looks like a pretty boy. Kratos is one mean mother beep if you know what i mean. Make him look mean and his eyes look a lil tad to big.

has he been using eye lash extenstions as well ?

apart from that very very good and the detail thats gone into it has been very well done. deffo better then what i can do.

I think it’s a matter of taste as far as the eyes are concerned, but this is a great model. A Google image search for Kratos art has quite a few examples where his face ranges from pretty(ish) to really square and masculine features.

This one compared with this one, with this one being the most masculine, for example, IMO.

Good stuff!

Hi guys, thanks for this the fast feedback, i haven’t posted any image here on zbrush central since 2007 even i have done some zbrushing work latest years, anyway i notice its become really big with a generous comunity and a nice feedback

lets go back to our kratos :

3xtigy - You said :" Kratos looks like a pretty boy. Kratos is one mean mother beep if you know what i mean "

Sorry my english isn’t vey good but i guess you would mean that my version of kratos is too pretty and young compared to the original one which are little bit ugly ( yes if you check well )?

But the trusth is if you check the internet for refrences you will notice that ther’s too much or uncommon version of ktratos and not talking about fanart but about the official work done by sony, through the years from god of war 1 to the latest ps3 version, its very confusing to decide which one you take as reference and then you will try to mix the ones you like
Its the same for body height, armor proportion … its depend on the artist work .
Myabe the eylahses are a bit long though
seems Floydshayvious know what iam talking about

here a better head closeup

Ok, I understand were brusherator and 3xtigy are coming from. But I’m going to have to lean towards 3xtigy, and this is the reason why. :warning:

First off I came in the thread thinking I was going to see Kratos’ face, that was the first thing I was checking for. I didn’t, I just saw some dude dress up like Kratos . So I was about to check out so more gallery work when I notice the material and Face texture needed some work, that can real hurt a model. So I said to myself “I would like to see the zbrush”. I scrolled down to the zbrush front view sculpt and loved what I saw.

Man that armor is amazing, 100 percent on point, in the zbrush sculpt. :+1:

And the face in the front view sculpt, looks like Kratos, but the 3 quarter view doesn’t. I think the reason is because Kratos is Greek and has Greek facial features the 3 quarter looks Caucasian.

Here a tip if you do want to make Kratos look more . . . uhm nicer I would start by finding a more feminine looking greek male reference and start blending in some of those facial features. :sunglasses:

TroyRichardson -

you said : “And the face in the front view sculpt, looks like Kratos, but the 3 quarter view doesn’t. I think the reason is because Kratos is Greek and has Greek facial features the 3 quarter looks Caucasian”

I’ve tried to avoid european face at the maximuim , depending on references, kratos look greek but with some Midetarean/ midlle eastern / arabic features, i mean dark eyes / hair, wide nose, big eyebrows

i dont think making him more Nicer would be good thing imho, depending on the amount of reference images of him, i think his defintly not an apollo :))

Look to these image from GOD3 game, they are the most rencent and 3d modeled :

i’m very proud to find such an Arabian artist got to this lvl …keep it up
:+1:

this krato does look like a pretty boy, and it is not because his facial structure, style or the reference you use… it is because you actually texture his eyes with mascara.

Does it make your model look bad? no. The model does look good, and i do respect your style if this is what you are going for. However, if giving him the mascara look isn’t your intention, then i would try to take out those dark lining around his eyes and see how the model would look. If you want to emphasis his eyes, you can try give it a darker/redish texture around his lower eye lid instead of a sharp dark line.

the final result looks pretty good tho  congrats

Very interesting take on Kratos you have there, looks like he’s part egyptian I can digg that.

Good job bro.

rabieart -thanks :))

as i know Kratos has some mascara on his eyes, that for sure , try to google it to verify, and have some black, dark gothic eyelid ( i think it was suposed to give him, this dark side espacially after he killed his own family, making him look that he passed to the other dark side of mankind , iam sure his creators wanted that ).
Just that i notice that mascara without dark eyelid give the oposite and seem that are there for giving beauty  this why it can make him look egyptian too with make up used by ancient egypte civilization.

Thanks guys, your comments are much apriciated

[Hi guys, this is an update of the character kratos i posted here 3 weeks ago, rather than the head i tweaked to make him look alike the kratos from the recent ps3 version everything is newly modeled and sculpted, iam almost finsihed the sulpting ( miss only the blades ) and ready to start to UVit, polypainting and shading in lightwave, it would be nice to have some feedback from you guys just before this important step, so heavay CnC are ve]1.jpg

copyright? LOL

You can’t copyright an already copyrighted character for one and two even if you say copyright it doesn’t matter unless the paperwork is filled out. Other than that decent likeness. You could use some higher res skin textures though.

Salmosta, Droma : everybody knows that the Kratos character is originally created and owned by sony ,the copyright isn’t related to the character design itself but its about the execution, i use to put the copyright word in addition to my e-mail into works i design from concept to final image, and i repeted it this time without thinking but i didnt forget to mention that this is not related to sony and its a fanart in the first post !

For textures as mentioned before isn’t final render, except the head which isnt fully painted, nothing is textured .

Looks great man, the face is much better than in the first post.

If I may comment, the triceps is not shaped correctly. its too thin and not divided into two halved. Other than that, looks pretty damn good ! Congratz.

magalhaes - thanks for taking time to write back  its better than talking about copyright stuff and really constructive.
you’re right about the triceps, i was looking to the images i posted here and noticed something weird with them, thanks to confirm it , will correct that in my next zbrush scession
Thanks again man

I’m lovein’ it.
The sculpting part looks fine, if you’er going for a realistic Kratos.
But if you want it to be like the game version, then you should do a little research. check out the making of for God of War 3 They tweaked him a little unrealistically to make him look better in game. Anyway Great stuff, I should work on something too

TroyRichardson - you said that if i wanted to make him realistic and this is the point !! in my first attempt with the armor i tried to make a realistic and anatomically true version of kratos , but seems taking this way ended with a character that look like him but not him ! after i played the ps3 version and focused on cinematic i definetly get what was wrong with the first version.
I finished the game lately and watched the making of and honestly that version of kratos in smooth shading tweaked by this modeler in zbrush wasn’t what iam looking for , so i tried to get likeness of this version with realistic features, i mean no exageration in face features , for the body i prefered to keep it realistic too with well balenced body parts. i think the important when we reproduce a character is to add a special touch, look for exemple to al the versions of marvels character like hulk , every comics book designer brough his version from 3 meters height to 6 or ten, same too for body structure, face , hairstyle …and this is what hapend with kratos version from 1 to 3 .
thanks again
