Knotwork

Frenchy Pilou:Actually i din´t see that one before, thank you

very much for leading me there! Really great hommage to MCE!

As for the architecture:that´s the kind of stuff i´ve been

learning from, photos of the real architecture of course, not only

persian also mauresque, turkish and so on. When i started my

studies you wouldn´t find much literature on knotting  .

Thanks again, i´ve really enjoyed it.

Damn cool…
How do you assign this knot onto a torus?
Is it bases on displacement or something? I dont get it…

Can you do anykind of shapre, like a face or a body?

Refer to earlier posts in this thread. :+1:

Sebcesoir: as for the torus thing: i make a band of knots,

oriented along one axis, then i bend it to a hollow “rod” and

that´s bent to a ring then.

I sure would like to do a full knot on a head, but have not found

a way yet. Only as a flat pattern via uv tile or maybe with an

alpha mask. Sigh;) .

Just in case someone is interested

one of the grids used for the basic knots.

Kinda mixed both styles

Thanks for watching and a nice Ztime everybody, J.

Time for a little aftermath

TrapDoor and Frenchy Pilou:Thanks for your kind comments!

…Simple geometry/ Celtic Knots and some others
It’s your cousin?

Frenchy Pilou:another nice website!

No cousin, way too mathematical!

Knotplot has been updated. The interface now has access to the previously hidden Celtic Knots features. From the author; “…now it is directly available off of the Sketch panel. Also included are a few example Celtic knot grids.”

He is also asking for donations to keep development going.
'Tis the season to be generous!

The amazing knotwork images in this thread are inspiring!

Here’s a messy looking knot drawn in ZB3 using ZSpheres. A radial transform on the Z axis was used with a count of 4 to produce the symmetry.

Radial Knot.jpg

Here is a vine piece I made with ZBrush 1.55 a few years back. This was done with zspheres and radial symmetry (like KHC_inc).

Thanks for your contributions.

I still can’t believe my eyes when I look at the images in this thread.

Here’s something more regular (inspired by Slosh).

Check out the nuts for knots link in my sig line. There are also a few more progs mentioned. Keep up the geometrics! They are being bullied by the organics
Cheers

I am trying to train them to weave themselves into a celtic knot, but so far no luck…They just won’t listen.TENT1.jpg
