I bought Keyshot few years ago. It was pretty useless so I upgraded it to Keyshot6 pro hoping I could sqeeze something from it but nope, played with it for a while and then went back to my beloved Octane and never used Keyshot since.
my issues were:
- it toook forever to transfer complex fiber meshes and gazilion micromesh based details
- it took forever to render them without noise
- haven’t giving you any usefull realtime feedback beyond noisy mess
- I need passes since I render to textures mostly and passes were terrible with lots of artifacts , not even close to Octane
- Had problems with getting an exact shadow length and softness from certain details to be kind of existing and non-existing at the same time in resulting renders/textures. Keyshot just didn’t have tools to set the lighting precisely, only HDRi files
- couln’t render proper micromeshes with alpha casting alpha related shadows ( like tree leaves for example)
- inability to just rander current zbrush lighting, ortho camera and frame settings
Still I am a bit tired of all the hassle moving things to Octane ( espeshially fibermesh) so I wonder have something changed since with Keyshot?
