Keys To Your Soul!

Hi I started this piece as part of my Zbrush 4 beta work. I have just got round to finishing him off. I have wanted to do the Nosferatu character
for a while and I started roughing this model out over a year ago. He started out with a lantern and not keys but I really wanted something of a
metaphor for the film so I changed it to keys something that has you locked inside even if not physical, he has you! I hope you enjoy
the images, the additional images are film grade tributes to Max.

Love and peace

Very nice work

Nice piece fella… Has great style and mood.

Tidy sculpt, texture compliments it well. Love those hands!

Cheers,
Chris

Really good work!

I sure hope that makes it to the top row, as much as I dislike the setup of having one, but I truely believe this one is something that should not be missed!

Wonderful work!
I do, however, think he could look a bit spookier in regards to his eyes and their placement. As close as they are together, he appears a bit dimm spirited, which might be on purpose, but just takes a little bit the power away from him. The pupil or iris looks a little…hmm…artificial, as if lighting was creatively cheated for them and it breaks a little bit the otherwise beautiful and consistent feeling mood. Maybe the chromatic abbrivation is a tiny bit over the top outside the depth of field, but well…
As this is a brilliant piece of work altogether, it’s really just my silly nitpicking and I hope you don’t mind. Also, I love the hands!

Congrats and my vote for top row, for sure! :+1:

I really like the zbrush model, my only beef with the final render is the ooogly eyes. His irises are either too big or the expression altogether seems to friendly. The creepy “I am gonna bite your ass later” vibe is not there. He looks too nice, and the eyes It’s what is sending that message across dude.

Cool! As a Nosferatu buff it warms my heart to see someone tackle him in ZB. I can clearly see your influences from other “Nosferatu-artists”, the pose and hands are very much like David Grasso’s Nosferatu sculpt and the head with the exaggerated eyes reminds me very much of Pete Murphy’s 1:1 bust. Both in themselves very fine sculptures and serves really well as inspiration.
I do think you exaggerated the eyes a little too much, brings him a bit off character, but I love the hands and the overall detailing.
Great job!

Thanks for the comments and crits guys.

graf Orlok: Cheers fella yes I drew heavily from the Peter Murphy sculpt I’m glad you can see the association with the eyes when you take it from the Murphy sculpt and how I intented to do them, thanks for dropping by.

3D Mob: No problem fella thanks for the crits, I did intend them to be this way as per the Peter Murphy Sculpt, I suppose they are very subjective to individual sculptors and this is how I like them.

Taron: Thanks for the crits and comments, I agree with you on top row stuff I have seen many good things go by we’ll see what happens. All feedback is good I guess I just tried to create something not literal to the movie so I really did’nt want him too menacing, I think if you see the Pete Murphy Sculpt it will give you a better idea of where I was going with it, it’s somewhat more animalistic than human and I feel this is what the movie also portrays so i felt the exaggeration was need in this case thanks for looking man.

Derek: Cheers man glad you like him.

Mkyboy: Cheers love!

Mr Happy: you made me happy

I think it’s superb too.

Just a few points,
feels like the clothing is kinda painterly, especially near the shoulders, when compared to the very 3d feel of the head and hands.

The little fibres/fur on the clothing is a nice touch, albeit too consistent. I believe less is more here, and length variation would be nice too.

I’m just nitpicking though.

Like others have say, what great hands!

being quite a vampire aficionado I must say, that is one fine Nosferatu. the only thing that bothers me is the blood blotch right covering the tips of his front teeth. it sort of takes away from his mouth by being overly present and a little gooey right there in center.

other than that - excellent!

oh and I agree, those hands are really absolutely fantastic.

Awesome :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: !

Reminds me of Count Olaf…

 I hope you take it as a compliment. I really dig Pete’s semi original take on ol’ Orlok and I definitely thinks you did a great job capturing it. I was thinking that the eyes might work if you did the irises smaller. I think Pete did that with one of his paint ups too. That would make it very eerie. Small irises on large eyes = very uncomfortable…
I have yet to see his sculpt for real, but I have painted several of David Grasso’s Nosferatu’s and they’re great too. I replaced the lantern with keys on each and every one of them.
Cheers mate, and keep up the great work!

nice work… :+1: :+1:

This is a very good Nosferatu sculpt. I like more the classic vampire and not those new types and your sculpt is clearly Nosferatu for me.

very cool - nice modeling :D:+1:

Ein wunderbar schauriger Herr Schreck

Stunning work done here!! I love it and I´m bound to this great German movie classic.

In my opinion, nothing to add. Top row!

Thumbs up und dankeschön!

Toppest of the Rowest.
