First off, I would like to congratulate the Pixologic team on an awsome demonstation of the software. I would also like to thank them for the invitation. I never would have imagined I would be able to attend. Thank you!
Let’s see, where do I begin. Well, let’s just say the whole experience was awsome, and I was glad I got to spend some time with Davey, Jaime, and Pixolator (while they were working of course) I appreciate Davey’s just sitting and chatting with me about the software. They put on a good show, and I can say that the wait is worth it. I got to see it in action. Every time they started their demos a throng of people would show up. These weren’t just the attendees of Siggraph but the vendors also. Several larger and better known companies stopped by and oohed and awwed over the modeling capabilities while I was there. Folks like Industrial Light and Magic stopped by as well as Softimage. They told me they underestimated the number of people that would be interested in buying the premier edition, so they were running low on copies. When I left at 2p.m. they only had 5 copies left, so I did nto get a copy to try out.
But I did get to talk with everyone there, and the software looks awsome.
From what I understand, it is still going to be a couple of weeks before they will release it. They are still incorporating different items and tweaking sime things. The presentations were very well done except for the flaky Wacom tablet they had. It kept quitting on them for some reason, and they would have to reboot the computer. Much to my happy satisfaction (since I have one too) Wacom showed up and tried to help the situation.
They showed off a lot of the new tools, and the interface is just one of a kind! I now understend better what Aurick meant when he said we would never paint the same way again. Read the ZBriney Deep thread to understand better. Things have changed, but not too much so we would be lost using the software. What else can I say? I would have to agree with the earlier post from the Macworld thread that Animation Master guy gets the award for most enthusiastic and loud. It was a great show, and once again I thank the team for helping me to get there! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. I might not have covered something you were interested in. Happy Zbrushing!
