Japanese Geisha WIP (Beginner)

Hello. I am currently working on a Japanese Geisha, that I would love to show progress on.

I LOVE Japanese culture, and why not show the love, using a Zbrush sculpt? This Geisha is inspired by a REAL Geiko/Geisha. I am trying to replicate a real-looking Geisha. Not something necessarily straight out of my imagination.

I am a BEGINNER in Zbrush , I’ve only been using 4r5 for about a year now, and just got 4r6. I basically had to learn Zbrush on my own, by Digital Tutors and Youtube tutorials. My college doesn’t teach Zbrush.

Here ya go! This is what I have SO FAR.

This is as best as I can get into with detail SO FAR throughout my experience.

I still have sculpting I need to do on the hands. I wish I could get the face a little bit more realistic. I’ve been using 3D for a long time, since 2006. But, I never learned to use ZBrush until recently. I have experience UVing, which allowed me to create the texture for her hair, her face and the obi on the kimono. I just want to get higher in detailing and add more realism to this model, to make it a beautiful portfolio piece.

I am here to learn, and I am trying to build up my portfolio, so please feel free to give me some suggestions and critiques, to help me improve! Thank you very much (Domo Arigato!) =)

What do you think of my model, since this is my first detailed model? Please, I need your critiques, so I can improve my work.

I think it’s a good start. You might want to revisit her facial features such as the nose wings, the cheek area and the folds around the mouth, and the lips. As for the cloth folds, you might want to reference the real photos and try to replicate the natural folding of the garment. In addition, I highly suggest you to sculpt her bare first and add on cloth to make her anatomically correct. As you can see right now her hip area seems a bit odd. Anyhow, aeisha’s a very challenging topic to sculpt. Good luck with that! Cheers!
