Issues with Material Transparency

So I’m modeling some eyeballs, and I want to render them in zbrush. I can’t for the life of me figure out material transparency. I have it turned on in display properties, and in the render properties, but no matter what material I use it seems the transparency slider for the material has no effect on the transparency in the render.

Note: I am seeing transparency in the render, but no matter if I turn transparency all the way down or all the way up in the material modifiers the render result is the same. I must be missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
