Issue with custom alpha

Hi everyone,

I’m actually starting to create some alphas, so here’s how I proceed :
Size doc : 500/500
Plane3D
Sculpt what I want
Frame
Then alpha > GrabDoc

And here’s my problem

I do the same as I’ve seen in some videos, but I always got this square shape on my alpha, what I want is only the circle part, and in those videos I’ve seen, by doing GrabDoc, they only got the circle shape, so, what kind of sorcery is this ?

Thanks.

The Problem you have is when you are creating your Alpha with a plane you are using ZSub in the plane. This moves the Actual 0 in Z depth to that Zsub depth you did. So the rest of the plane is in Positive Z.
So when you create your alpha from a plane make sure your sculpt is allways extruded out from the plane

Hope this Helps

If you’ve cut into your plane with negative depth during the alpha creation process, you can also tweak the Alpha> Modify> MidValue until you get a result that works for you. Radial Fade will help reduce artifacts along the borders.

You should use 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024 etc. square or if rectangular a certain aspect ratio. I hope I have that right.
