is there a way to clone texture areas in polypainting?

In Photoshop and most painting programs there is a cloning tool, where you can click on an area and paint from that point in the texture to another point on the same texture. Is there a simple cloning tool like that in ZBrush?

All I can find is Zproject. which seems to only work from a background texture.
I need to clone across areas where seams meet, in order to make the seams invisible.

thanks for any info

you can use zproject as you mentioned…but you can use it with your current mesh. shift+S (stamp) your mesh down to the canvas, move to where you need it, and use zproject with only rgb turned on.

you can also use Zapplink.
you can also use ProjectionMaster.

Thanks, but then I can’t rotate to the areas which need fixing – if i have to have a separate source for the clone, it has to be able to rotate like the object I’m painting on, or change angles the same way. This needs to clone what’s happening from one side of the seam to the other, not just project a part of the texture on both sides.

None of the methods you suggest will accomplish that, unless i’mm missing something – if so please tell me!

you have to keep dropping and picking up the model from the canvas to achieve what you’re trying to do. There isn’t a live clone brush inside of Zbrush that I am aware of.

Are you aware of any tutorials on this particular procedure? because i have a lot of trouble working out how to accomplish this. I always end up totally frustrated…

I do not know of a tutorial talking about this…I know there are tons, but I can’t think of any off the top of my head.

Lucky for you I have to do some texture work tomorrow so I will do up a video tut for you.

Wow, that’s really cool ghoast, thanks!

You can also use ZAppLink to send your model (one view or multiple views) to Photoshop. There you can do the cloning, save the image, then switch back to ZBrush to have your model update.
