Is there a UI interface for Zbrush for users transitioning from Mudbox?

Hello. I learned 3DS Max, Maya, and Mudbox first while I was in my Masters study. I am having a hard time transitioning over to Zbrush as my knowledge of Mudbox is getting in the way. I keep having issues moving the screen, rotating, zooming in and out, and find myself using Mudbox keyboard controls as I know them by heart. Is there anything out there Ui wise or tutorial to help with the transition? I am not new to modeling so I do understand terminology. Thanks

Hi @Amanda_Stanley Welcome to ZBrush Central.

I don’t think there is going to be an easy way to start using ZBrush. ZBrush is quite different than Mudbox with quite a different interface. You are basically going to have to start at the beginning. With ZBrush, it’s important to start with the basics. Once you know the basics, other things will become easier and you will find yourself picking things up quicker and quicker. There are lots of tutorials on Youtube including the Pixolgic Youtube Channel as well as the Pixologic ZClassroom. Following is an older video but still covers the basics of starting in ZBrush. It will help you get over some of the hurdles that beginners seem to get stuck at. Also, you can always come here if you ever get stuck or have any questions. Good luck and have patience.

Hi Amanda,
You might be happier changing your preferences in Zbrush to right click navigation. (menu >Preferences>Interface> right Click Navigation).
If you use a Wacom tablet you can then reprogram your pen to behave a bit more like what you are used to. This is done through the Wacom preferences for the buttons & tip. (Use RClick + Modifier for the toggles )

If that is not an option, then you can do some customization for the mouse. Right now there is an issue with the scroll wheel on Mac but you may be on Windows. Watching this ASK ZBRUSH tutorial may help you to understand how to customize the UI. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBnpqnfG9n0&t=3s
