Is there a rough ball park estimate of ZB3 for mac?

I really hate these sorts of posts, I’ve done a search and it doesn’t appear to be answered.

I’m hoping that someone at pixologic can give a non binding general ball park possible realease date? I know a lot of people really want an idea and I can’t see how a ball park hint can hurt.

Something like… imminent, approx 3 months, approx 6 months or approx one year. Is this even possible? maybe not I don’t know how the team works.

ZBrush 2 for the Macintosh was released about 6 months following the windows version, I would think that this will be similar with Z3 ( give or take a month or two). Meanwhile, if you can run Windows applications on your Macintosh then you can start using ZBrush 3 now by taking advantage of the free-of-charge access to the Windows version which is available to you as a Macintosh user.

Oh, that’s excellent news. Probably pretty fair too. 6 months give or take a few, good enough. I’ll be ppc for a while yet, but there’s no denying it’s a pretty cool solution otherwise.

I remember the painful wait for Zb2 to come out.
A ball park statement is all the mac comunity has been after. Now we can guage whether to A) buy an intel mac B) go the bootcamp or parallels route.

thank you.

Hi Im a new user and keen to get started with zbrush 3, sooner than 6 months but only own Macs (both kinds). Should I go with BootCamp or Parallels, does anyone think?
Any opinion or advice gratefully receieved…

stick with a pc! ;] hahaa

With Intel Macs you get two for one! :sunglasses:

Sleazy, I’m using Bootcamp with my Macbook Pro. ZB3 runs smooth as butter. I couldn’t go another 6 months without ZB3. It was worth getting Windows for my Mac to run it.

Thank you so much - thats most helpful and reassuring.

Incidentally does the version of Windows make a difference? What are you using?

(Wonderful art too, by the way ,-)

Because I’ve heard about some issues with Vista, I got XP Pro. I don’t know if there’s any real problems with Vista, but I knew that XP Pro is a pretty stable OS which is why I went that direction. It was $300.00 but that’s minimal compared to several months without ZB3 IMO.

I’m using Parallels 3 with Win XP Pro SP2. I have both a MacBook Pro and a Quad MacPro and they’re very stable with ZB as the only thing running in the windows session. (I was sculpting for 8 hours on Sunday without a single hiccup, for example.) Since ZB3 was released, I’ve only had only a few Windows crashes, generally when I was doing something to Windows (installing software, for example.)

Be very careful when updating Parallels or Bootcamp. Unregister ZB before making OS changes and re-register (ZB’s DRM is somewhat senstive to machine changes.)

Don’t worry of you make mistakes–the Pixologic guys will get you up and running (when I over-registered, they sent me a new code withing two hours.)

Happy Z-ing!

I just got a MacBook Pro 17" from MacMall. If you get it from them you not only get 4 gigs Ram but also your choice of XP pro or Vista - via boot camp or Parallels for a little extra (I got both - but Parallels wasn’t installed and was ver 2.0 - it is a free upgrade to 3.0 but Parallels tech support are taking their sweet time getting back to me …)

Im running Zbrush 3 in a Mac Pro using Vista Ultimate X64, it´s performance is really nice, although is Windows…

Anyway, i preffer to wait Zbrush 3 for Mac Intel, i can´t wait for running it in Leopard

Thanks for the reply Aurick. Please keep us posted. How about BETA TESTING? Are you looking for users to test?

Been searching these forums for months for answers on ZBrush3 for Mac. How come I never noticed this thread before? Why are all the other threads on this subject being deleted? There is lots of bad buzz on the internet about this.

I guess we are looking at 6 months following the windows version. As always, windows gets priority   . Hopefully soon.
