Is it ok to boolean with decimated objects

Hi, I am wondering what is preferred practice , as far as not having problems with boolean operations. I am not concerned with surface topology at this point. So for example I will be storing a bunch of tools to use as cut outs and I am wondering if it is ok to decimate them and save them with the lighter geometry and then use them as subtractive objects to boolean with.

Hi @Zolly,

It’s perfectly ok to do whatever works best for your particular situation, but decimated topology is difficult to work with in many ways. I wouldn’t choose to work with it in the program unless It was the only option to reduce a mesh to a more manageable polycount. The images you show are just of simple primitives, so that wouldn’t seem to apply here.
