Intuos 4 vs Intuos 5

Not as stupid as the title would appear.
Have read posts regarding tablets here until I am blue in the face.
( Have been working with a Intuos 2 6x8)
Have decided on an Intuos Medium, cost is not an issue.
But as an afterthought, after picking Intuos 5 looked up price etc, then looked up
Intuos 4. For an earlier model of Intuos (4) the cost is more?
Then some discussion of problems with Intuos 5.
So.
All things being equal, cost not a concern, which is better.
Obviously the question is from the Zbrush perspective:D
Thank you in advance.

I went straight from an Intuos 3 to 5 and i’m pretty happy with the tablet.

Works well in Zbrush, I do like the on screen display that lights up when you touch the buttons so you can get used to never really having to look down at the tablet while you work.

All in all it’s a very functional tablet and definitely a step up from 3. It is strange that an Intuos 4 would be more expensive.

The only thing that annoys me about this version is that if the canvas area gets damaged or too scratched up the whole unit must be sent off to a Wacom service center for repairs. I think with Intuos 4 you could just buy the replacement and fit it yourself.

Also note that currently ZB isn’t really designed to take advantage of the touch features of the Intuos 5. They can be useful in Photoshop but if you never use it then it’s a bit pointless.

If I could go back I would probably still choose the Intuos 5 over 4 but I guess that’s personal preference.

I have not yet had any issue with my tablet but perhaps someone else could chime in if they have had problems?

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply.
Decided on the Intuos 5 touch medium, received it a few days ago.
Outside of a problem with the wireless accessory looks like a winner.

Thanks again, appreciate it.

Amazon had the Intuos 4 listed at over 400 dollars, still have no idea why.
