Hi, guys, probably this one’s for you who own multiple type of wacom tablets. I was wondering if wacom pens from different type would work on one another? Perhaps a Graphire 4 pen on a Graphire 3 or an Intuos 3 pen on Intuos 2? Or perhaps even between graphire and cintiq pens would they work on one another? Could anyone try it out on your tablets?
Just curious.
I’ve used one from an Intuos 2 on an Intuos 3 if that helps. Not sure about a Graphire?
Would it work the other way around? (intuos 3’s pen on intuos 2)
Anyone got words on the graphire version?
I ended up buying the “classic” version of the pen to replace the fatboy that comes with the Intuos 3 tablet…

I think you’ll find that Intuos 3 pens only work with Intuos 3 tablets:

but it’s possible to get a universal Intuos pen which works with any Intuos tablet:

Probably the same applies to Graphire.
Incidentally, I’d be interested to know if anyone has used the Express Keys which come with some Intuos 3 models with ZBrush? Are they any use?
When I’m wrestling my Cintiq then I use the keys for alt and ctrl function. I’d LOVE to be able to use the slider strip for pen size but have not found a way to do that.

Lemmo: But the strips work for other apps like Ps right? It’s just Zb related issue?
It seems graphire 4 pen works with 3.
The ink pen:

The regular pen:

(The code for both graphire 3 and 4 is CTE) Seems like graphire 4 is just the 3 with a roller on top. Not sure if that works with Zb too. (just like lemmo’s strips)
Anyone tried it yet?
I mean are all those strips/roller on all those wacoms don’t work on Zb?
I know the barrel roll don’t work on Zb. How’s about the 1,024 level of pressure?
Wacom codes:

The strips work in a few modes:
- Scroll
or - Keystrokes
You can define what key stroke should be send for an
upward motion or downward motion.
or - Zoom
or - Autoscroll/Zoom
or - Disabled

Zbrush only supports the ‘S’ key and then a manual slider moving input. Nothing which can be automated by default in Zbrush.
It would be fantastic if the left and right sliders could be used for focus and size. Both strips operate independent.
Photoshop is supported with ‘Zoom’ bt default. Which is not to useful. But that can be changed. PS is very Wacom oriented and there is also a great tutorial DVD which details the optimum use of the tablet with PS. ZBrush is not using all the features of the newer Wacoms like strips and controls.
