I’m going to put in a new card today-do I have to uninstall the drivers for the old one first, then remove it or can I just yank the old one stuff the new one in boot up get the new hardware detected window and go for it or what please advise I am standing by.
rhom, I don’t know that you have to. What I did was select the standard VGA driver in windows first, then shut down, changed the cards, and restarted the pc. When the pc restarts it will prompt you to install the new device driver.
Thanks William-that is a start-it helps.
Which one did you get? (Curiosity only)
Sometimes win 98 gets a little weird if you don’t uninstall the old drivers, but it really shouldn’t be a problem. In 2000 and XP you don’t have to. Let me know if you have any problems.
Hardware installation is my “thing” hehe.
Rhom, it’s never a bad idea to get rid of the old drivers you’re not gonna use any more, when changing video cards.
Thanks everyone for your help.
