Insert Mesh Stroke Issues

Hello Everyone,

First time ever trying to get help with zbrush other than tutorials so really hoping to get some help. Having a real tough time and I’m pretty confident its just a matter of a few different settings or steps.

I created a tube type insert mesh brush and want to snap it from one panel on an angle to another.

The tube is snapping on the side but I can create another surface to snap to. Is there an easy way to do do this?

Here are some screenshots to help make more sense:

Hi and welcome to ZBC,

In order for the ends to snap to a face like that you’d need to make sure the ends were positioned correctly when creating the brush. As the mesh is positioned relative to the screen pane you’d need to be looking straight down on the ends, not at their sides. (If you look at the “Chain with Base” option in the IMM Curve brush included with ZBrush you’ll see what I mean.)

But this is likely to be problematic with something like a hose where you want all the hose part to be flexible. I think the best way is probably to adjust the curve after drawing. If you rotate the model so that you can adjust it from the side then it shouldn’t be difficult. You can change the size of the blue Edit Curve cursor by changing the EditCurve Radius slider in the Stroke>Curve Modifiers sub-palette. That can help so that you don’t affect too much of the curve.

Thanks for the welcome and info Marcus! I see your point on the re positioning parts I’ll build the insert mesh with bends on the start and end for the rings to snap proper. I will also use your advice on the EditCurve Radius slider in the Stroke>Curve Modifiers sub-palette to construct the intial insert mesh. Aside from getting more comfortable controlling the curve I think that should work out fine.

Appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
