Insert mesh import scale issues

Hello, I modeled and UV mapped a hairplane in 3ds max to use as an insert mesh in ZBrush.

In the resulting brush, the mesh is really thin. I can scale this up a little in the brush size, but this has some bad effects when I draw out the curve. I’ve tried changing the mesh size in max and the export scale and these do nothing.

Is there something that I am missing here?

Thanks in advance for any help

The mesh will be as thin as you modeled it. If you want it thicker, model it so. If it is coming out thinner than it was created as, check to see that the ZIntensity is set to 100%. Lower values here will flatten your IM.

Without actually getting a look at the situation (pictures are worth a thousand words), I will only make you aware that using an IM brush with curve mode has limitations. It only really works well in situations where the IM is mostly flat to the surface of the mesh, with a uniform vertical height. Odd behavior when curve is enabled for an IM brush is not uncommon. Tri Part curve brushes are much more reliable.
