Import new Topology mesh= Crash

Good morning from Boston.

I have a problem…I have been working on a model that I started in ZB, and I decided to change a small piece of it inside of XSI. The problem I am getting is when I import the new model (It is virtually the same shape, I just changed the topology inside of the mouth), I get the confirmation if i want to transfer the new details to the new mesh. I do that, and suddenly Zbrush crashes AFTER it goes through the remapping phase.

And the model is 16.4 million polygons, and I had zero problems sculpting on it…

I am using ZB 3.5 r3. and here are my system specs

Intel Core i7 920 (Stock)
6GB DDR3 RAM at 1600 Mhz
Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit
34.3 GB of Free Hard drive space…

just what the hell is going on? Thank you…this is really hampering my creation time…

Okay, I tried it again the second time and it is still crashing at the same place…i am going to try it again with lvl 7 deleted… this is ridiculous…

Do you have layers on your model? I had the same problem when I had 6-7 layers on the model, but it worked after I collapsed a few of them.

I only have two layers…closed mouth and default detail…i need the closed mouth to fix the lip around the model…i will trying deleted my layers and see if that helps and then i may have to hide the mesh parts to open the mouth again and fix it…

HOLY ****!! Thank you so much…you just saved me HOURS of rework…I just deleted my layers and presto…new topology… now i just have to open the mouth… and continue working

Thank you again.

You’re welcome. I almost find the solution by accident. I hope they fix it in zb4 anyway, I use layers a lot and I would like to keep them when retopologing.

Exactly… I have never used layers, but I find them useful when I am playing with different body shapes… thanks again… GoZ for XSI would nice to have right now… :frowning:
