IMM element with wide spacing along a curve

Hello. I’m trying to create lines of evenly spaced rivets for an aircraft skin. I can’t seem to find a way to increase curve step to control spacing between rivets while at the same time getting the rivets to orient properly to the subtool normals, they align to the reduced resolution curve. This results in some rivets being inside the surface and some being above. Backing up a bit, I don’t care what method I use, so if you could suggest any way to do this uniformly, I’d love to hear it. I can’t figure it out.

I am going to try a three-part IMM rivet where the begin and end portions are the halves of the next rivet. Not sure that will work but worth a shot.

Hello @Leon_Franzen ,

Try adjusting the size to the desired size for the individual mesh, and then increase the Curve Step in Stroke> Curve. In this way you can control the spacing independently of the IM size.

You cannot place the meshes independently of the curve resolution or stepping. Whatever the resolution of the curve, the meshes will appear in the middle of the segment. You can only control the size of the mesh, and how much space is between segments.

Good luck!
