it looks cool, but somehow it just doesnt strike me as very practical after watching that demo…
the constant mess of fingerprints has already been mentioned… also alot of people dont like touch screens (myself included) as I don’t like my own hand or pen tip blocking my view of the screen as I’m trying to work… I’ve actually tried working with a Cintiq but decided I like my Intuous better, even for 2d sketching
I think there are some really interesting possibilities with this technology, but not enough to outweigh the obstacles that I see
I think instead of this, implants are going to be the future… perhaps farther in the future than this technology, but for instance I roleplayed a character once who had tiny implants in his fingertips so that he could simply tap on any hard surface and it would act as a keyboard… and these implants would communicate wirelessly with his computer sunglasses
 …
and we can even get wilder than that… there have been successful research studies in the last few years with direct mind control… they’ve done successful brain implant operations on chimps which allowed them to control a robotic arm with their mind… and more recently, a young child was able to play Space Invaders with his thoughts
oh I almost forgot to mention intelligent computers which learn your personality, schedule, and habits and adapt to them… the character with the sunglasses I mentioned had an artificial intelligence in his computer whom he assigned computing tasks to all the time… like “hey program me this” or “look up directions to this place and guide me” or “hack into this server and steal me some data”
I see no reason these things cant become commonplace someday
