Hi, we updating in Gameloft BP to Zbrush 2021.7 and in our workflow related a feature called image plane.
In our worklow we uses presetuped cameras saved in ZAppLink. The abosulte position and proportion of the camra what is related to the concept is important to us. We load the concept to the background of the modell.
Before that is just worked fine. Now it cut the model.
Is it a way to fix this?
Hello @Balazs_Cserta,
I’m not certain if this is your problem–I would need much more information than what you are presenting here.
However, in the Document palette there is an option called WSize that is enabled by default on ZBrush files, and has been in every version of the program in recent memory. If this option is enabled when the file is saved, then the canvas will be re-scaled when saved to occupy your screen resolution minus space occupied by your UI. This may result in the canvas in your file being scaled differently when you re-open it, which may impact the size and shape of saved camera views.
If you disable this option, then the canvas will be saved with whatever dimensions are specified in the document palette, and only those dimensions. Once disabled in the file and saved, this setting will remain disabled unless it is re-enabled. Your saved ZApp views should be the same. This is unchanged from previous versions of the program.
If your experience is not what I have described, please contact Pixologic Support so we cant take a closer look at your issue.
Thank you!
If you are referring to the fact that your mesh is clipping into the background, see @aurick explanation below.
Yes this is the issue. However I tryed out this method, and positioned further from the image plane and closer to the camera the model and it fit… than I just jump back to edit mode, it all jump back to the initial position.
So sadly somhow the modell is not holding the position after I restart edit.
Hi. We uses a reference plane and we had presetuped cameras and modells in Dragon Mania Legend project at Gameloft. We uses this methode since 2014 when we start to work on the project. We upgraded Zbrush along the way and there was no problem so far. However we upgrading from 2019 to 2021 and the the image plane is now cutting trough our presetuped meshes.
There are two methods you can use to set up a reference image in ZBrush using Image plane. One is “with a model in Edit mode” and the other is “with no model selected”. If you use “with no model selected” method, you can append the Image Plane as a subtool which will allow you to place the reference image wherever you want. However, with this method, when you rotate the view, it will also rotate the image plane. See the following link for instructions on both methods… Image Plane
If you have to use the method that you were originally using, it would probably be beneficial to you to report this problem to Pixologic Support as Spyndel suggested.
Thank you for the tips! I also reported to pixolig the problem!
Please can you tell me if the reference image size that you are using is the same as the document size?
Thanks,
Marcus
Hello,
Yes it is. That is the point to place always the same postion as the 3D template uses the saved camera setup.
The problem is that Image Plane is designed to use its own buttons - Front, Back, Right, etc. in the Reference Views section. If you are using Image Plane to load an image and ZAppLink to position the model then the two won’t be in sinc. and presumably you are reloading the image each time you switch views. You can solve the problem like this:
- Press the relevant Image Plane>Reference Views button, such as “Front”.
- Press the corresponding ZAppLink button to position your model correctly.
- Use the Image Plane>Load Image button to load the image you want. (At this point, your model will probably be clipped by the image.)
- Press the Image Plane>Reference Views>Store View button. This store the model poistion and the image in memory.
- Press the button you selected at (1), such as “Front”. This will refresh the view and the model will no longer be clipped by the image.
Note that the Image Plane views are stored with the project file (ZPR).
HTH,
Marcus
Thank you this is solved this problem!
This is very interesting why this is worked the previous 2019 and older version and not in 2021.7.1. but I’m happy my team can move forward.
