Image Plane Acting Funny

Hey, i’m using 3.5r3 and Image Plane usually works well, but for some reason, when I click LoadImage and open the image, my mesh disappears and all I see is the image. If I try to draw my model back over the canvas, it’s as if i’m painting with the model.

Everywhere I look, it seems like i’m doing it right and when I click LoadImage the image plane should be placed behind my model and i can continue to work normally. I even tried reinstalling. What’s going on?

the same to you,Krymzon40 !“I click LoadImage and open the image, my mesh disappears and all I see is the image. If I try to draw my model back over the canvas, it’s as if i’m painting with the model”,and i change the edit mode to “gray”,create the texture ,everything like in 3.1(plugin),but,dispointed to me ,the same, why?

but i find a diffrent, that is ,“drop now” and “pickup now”,something wrong with it? beg your answer.

I have the exact same problem using Zbrush3.5R3

At work it works perfectly. I choose Load Image and I imediatelly work on the model with the image on the background as reference.

At home, no idea why, it leaves Edit Mode on the tool and it becomes a drawing 2.5D tool. Any way to fix this?

So long as your model is in Edit mode the image should be placed behind. If you simply draw your model on the canvas then you’ll get the effect in wepai’s image.

I can’t reproduce the problem with a model in Edit mode. However, if you are sure you are doing everything correctly and it is still not working properly do this:

  1. Clear the canvas if necessary by pressing Ctrl+ N.
  2. Draw your model on the canvas and enter Edit mode by pressing T on the keyboard.
  3. Press the Texture>Image Plane>Store button to store the model position.
  4. Turn off Edit (press T) and clear the canvas Ctrl+N.
  5. Select and load the reference image through the Texture>IMage Plane>Load Image button.
  6. As the image will be loaded with the gyro showing, press Q on the keyboard to switch to draw mode. Do NOT turn on Edit.
  7. Select your model in the Tool palette and draw on the canvas. Press T to enter Edit mode.
  8. Press the Texture>Image Plane>RePos button to reset the model position and continue sculpting.

HTH,

thanks, it works now. Yeah, he always does that select with the gyro setting forcing me to clean the canvas before loading the image again.
At least is workable now!

Do you have any idea why this would happen? I’ve also noticed the object looses its red wax material, I always have to re-applied it when I place it on the canvas again.

It’s just that the material isn’t being reset. It’s because 3.5 is an interim release. The whole method will be simpler when SpotLight is introduced in ZBrush 4.
