Iggy Pop

Here is my WIP if Iggy Pop. Found a nice reference of him on the interenet and decided to go for it. I plan to do his whole body, but i want to get his likeness and head right first.

This is real nice work, I can see the likeness. Can’t wait to see the end product.

Okay, so the chin is to far down. File it in a bit. The cheek bones are lacking in width. Your lips seem to be too thin, and the folds around the nose are too large and deep. His wrinkle, though many, are close to the surface and though deep in recession do not push the skin outward. Also the muscles by his jaw need to angled in towards his mouth. His face resembles holocaust victims, they have the same gaunt muscle structure his face shows.

Keep goin!

Here are a couplework in progress images of full figure shots for Iggy.

Looking GREAT! Where’s the rest of the stooges?

Great start, keep it up!, gonna check the likeness for you in two day’s .
Iggy & The Stooges, they are main-act on a festival i am going to visit!
(maybe you could open his pants, top button and zip half down.
Last time i saw him perform like this)

Thanks for the feedback @MoonChild

Have fun at the show! anigroove

Here are some new updates. Maybe I’m ready to paint/sculpt now.

That is 10 degrees of awesome.
Can’t wait to see him rendered and posed.
Amazing work!

heh - you didn’t skimp on the bulge. Apparently he’s quite “gifted” that way.

@edisongirard thanks! I appreciate it.
@cgbeige I think it’s usually a sock. :stuck_out_tongue:

Here is an update with the first color pass. More to come. My plan is to make Iggy real time capable, so the hair here is a placeholder atm.
thanks for looking!

Here is a second color pass for Iggy.

He’s about ready for rockband or guitar hero. I can just picture him singing “Search and destroy” or “Now I wanna be your dog”!!!

Looking good!

Thanks MoonChild.

Here isan update of making Iggy Real time. First, I retopologized the sculpt using Silo. After this, I decimated the subtools, brought them into Maya and use transfer maps for normal and color. I also baked normal and AO maps from XNormal just to make sure I was getting all I could out of the sculpt. After this, I painted the hair texture and arranged polygon strips for the hair. Finally, painted the spec map using Photoshop. The polycount is around 5600 at this point. I still need to rig, pose and make a nice set of renders and fine tune the maps.

So, here are some renders from Maya Hardware render and Marmoset.

Good Likeness!

I know it’s a WIP, but are you planning on doing a spec map? His skin looks a little like plastic.

Animating him would be really fun!

Hey Josh,
Thanks for your feedback. I think I can tighten up the spec map. Thanks for taking the time to drop a note.

Here is a quick update with a tighter spec map.

nice work mate
ur uv’s are nice, and his silhouette/topology are both quite good also.
im not sure i agree with the thickness of those veins on his chest :stuck_out_tongue: and also the reflectivity of his skin in that other screen shot is way too high.
overall though a nice model, and some interesting anatomy study. Good job.

Looking good man!

The attention to the spec map shows, keep in mind that his jeans, eyes, and hair will be a completely different material than his skin.

Something that would be crazy awesome would be to make a spec map like he was all sweaty, but have shiny beads of sweat running over his more matte textured skin, but that would be a lot of work. . .

Are you planning on rigging and animating him? You have a pretty good bind pose if you are.

Again, you have created a great likeness. Be proud!

I was thinking about a sweat spec map too!
Thanks for the feedeck guys!
