Idea for the Forum

Good morning all ZB’s.
I would like to make a suggestion to slighlty change the format of the FORUM.
For ease of reading the Forum and because it is getting more heavily used by new ZB artists, I would like to suggest that we create a new Section that is exclusively for postings by artists who are really new to ZB and just starting out.
This would be good for all concerned as I feel that the nature of the Forum needs to maintain a level of quality and overview that suits the professional as well.

I would appreciate a discussion on this matter and then a decision.
If this sounds elitist in any way then I beg to differ What it does is make it easier for all concerned to get to what they are interested in.

People can be self regulating but obviously the Forum Moderators will make adjustments when necessary.

i do not agree…not even CGtalk has that. Why separate ourselfs. You may create a section for the newbies where no professional users, that can realy help, will ever look.

Why should i decide when i’m posting if this is good enough for the professional forum. The beauty of ZbrushCentral is exactly this mix of profesional users with newbies wich gain this way a lot of experience fast learning from the masters.

We have the stars sistem where you can see wich work is good and wich is not and needs help. The forums is cool the way it is… No offence but thats my sincere opinion.

I think its not bad idea, coz newbies can compare their work with newbies and I think its more motivated if newbie see that is better then somebody else. In current forum newbies see great works and they can learn from it but its hard to imagine that he could do same quality when newbie start with Zbrush. Its clear.
Although I have no problems with this Im newbie.
I agree with new forum for newbies

I would think, its a nice idea too. I can`t see those heads WIP anymore. Everyone is doing a head in the beginning.(so did i, too), but this forum is so “headed”, it would be nice to have a little more structure…

Thomas

PS: I hope i dont flame anyone with this answer, but i think this could push the forum to a new level…

People already seem to have enough trouble deciding which forum they should post in (as evidenced by the fact that you yourself posted this thread in the forum that is supposed to only have completed tutorials and ALSO posted it in the Main Forum – neither of which was the right choice).

Adding yet another forum to the mix would actually make it harder for people to find what they need. First, they would need to wonder if their subject falls under the realm of “newbie” or “advanced”. Then they would have to hope that the person posting their answer did so in the correct forum.

It just wouldn’t work out well.

You may have a point in what you say but I was hoping to bring some rationalisation to the situation where I have to wade thru a lot of stuff that really is not interesting to me. I thought that raising the idea was the very least I could do and see what others thought.
I posted it in those places to make sure it was noticed by the masses and I feel it still is not really interesting to most people so it appears that the idea is not worth following up which is a result that I had not wished but can accept.

Now I go back to work and all the best.

Z.

make sure it was noticed by the masses
It was noticed commissar and will be remembered.

People cannot follow complex forum rules. It would not work.
And who would judge what category a post has to reside in?
Way to much effort.
Cheers
Lemo

Yes Lemmo - I see that point and it appears that you may be right in this although a change in the dissemination of information would have been appreciated but OK!

In regards to bicc39 vbmenu_register(“postmenu_265319”, true);
I hope your cryptic comment was not meant as some insult because that would be totally out of place. If it indeed it was then all I can say is that you have absolutely no idea what a commissar is and being noticed and remenbered by the likes of you would certainly not upset my day! Got the picture I hope.
I live in an ex-communist country and I think we do have an understanding about such matters.
The fact that you live in NY seems to be evident by the nature of your reply.
If you have some grievance then at least be a man about it and spell it out clearly so that we can all truely appreciate your wit.
Otherwise I am sure that you know what you can do with your sarcasm.

I’m from New York as well. And yes, we live on sarcasm and coffee. But we do not wear aluminum(sig) underwear.
:DLemo

PS:But my roots are German. That’s why my German core loves your idea of splitting the forum into more sections and having voting forums for the commitee which has to decide which post goes where, and the need for more rules, sub rules… ahhhhhhh the beauty of bureaucrazy(sig). But seriously… this stuff never works… lol. In the end things become uninteresting, grey, people start to turn away and move to New York just to live on sarcasm and coffee. When they had enough of that they sell their house, buy a Harley Bike, ride to the West Coast and found CG companies;).

PEACE!

Got the picture I hope.
You have no idea how much I have it.
Will be very careful about knocks at the door
in the middle of the night.

I’d say it’s a bad idea to separate the pro’s from the noob’s as it creates a mood in the forum where “they are better than us” kinda enviroment and that tends to get unpleasent and not something i really like. It’s better to keep it the way it is now where everyone’s equal no matter the skill level and the amount of unfinished head wip’s started.

Please don’t separate users by their skills, i’m sorry but that’s a very bad idea. And how would you know when someone’s good enough to qualify to post in the pro section… who decides that. I can’t see it working in a fair way.
