Ice Cream

I want to model a scoop of ice cream and then model some chocolate sauce on top dripping down. How would I go about doing this? I know how to model it but how do I import the objects separately into Zbrush so they align etc.?

Can I model the scoop of ice cream in my 3D application, then add the sauce in Zbrush or should I model them both in my 3D application and import them? Not sure what the best way to do this is?

Also I want the chocolate sauce to flow in the crevices of the ice cream. Any idea how I could do this?

All help is appreciated.

One way you could do this is to append a ZSphere as a subtool to your ice cream mesh. Switch on subtool transparency so you can see the zsphere, then scale and move it to the top of the ice cream. Now switch transparency off (this is essential): switch to Draw mode and you will now be able to add new zspheres simply by clicking on the mesh. Click then drag to scale the new zsphere before releasing the mouse/pen. To select a different starting point, hold Ctrl and click on a zsphere. This way you can quickly build up a mesh that conforms to your other subtools. When you are ready to sculpt, use the Gravity option in the Brush palette for greater realism!

HTH,

Thanks Marcus, a lot of what you said is over my head but I will try to follow your instructions.

Marcus, could you please explain this step in more detail. I am not sure where to start, should I be working in the Subtools menu or in ZSpheres etc? I have never used ZSpheres before.

If you’ve not tried zspheres then it’s probably a good idea to get to grips with them a little before trying this.

Marcus,

Thanks for the link, OK I am starting to understand ZSpheres now but I am still not sure how to “append a Zsphere as a Subtool” I know in Subtools I press “Append” to add a Subtool, but not sure how to get the Zsphere as a Subtool of the main model (the ice cream) when they are different files?

Forgive me if you’ve already answered this, I am just not understanding this!

1.Have the model you are working with (in this case the ice cream) selected and in Edit mode.

2.Click Tool: Subtool: Append and then select the ZSphere tool (the red ball) from the popup. This will add the zsphere as a new subtool.

  1. Select the new zsphere subtool in the subtool list so that you can work with it. You can model with it just like a regular zsphere.

Marcus, that’s what I needed to know Thanks!
