I just rented an anime called 'Metropolis' last night.

This was based on a manga that was written in 1949 by Astro Boy creator Osamu Tezuka which in turn was loosely based on Fritz Lang’s 1928 silent movie of the same name.

They worked 5 years making this and drew 150,000 cels of animation for this movie, and it shows.

I wholeheartedly recommend this movie to any other anime fans out there.

I bought this on DVD the day it became abailable. The second disc is a “pocket DVD”, a mini-DVD with a bunch of behind the scenes stuff, and is outstanding, but a little too short for my tastes.

Very interesting movie. The compositing of cel animation with computer graphics was outstanding, actually stunning in a lot of places.

I give it

I saw a trailer a while ago , I wanted to see it , but I never heard from it again. I’ll check if the dvd is available somewhere nearby. I’ve seen about 3 anime movies. Akira , Ghost in a shell , Ninja Scroll.
