Hey Capu, I had a bash at it, this is what my approach would be.

Grab a sphere, squash and shape into a general shell shape. Then dynamesh.
Mask one side, and hit Ctrl H to add poly groups.
Then in Geometry, > Groups Loops, I add 2 loops, and up the polish smoothing until the result has no jagged edges.
Then I grabbed Dam Standard Brush, and made my brush size huge, lowered my intensity and carved some lines.
I then isolated the top half of the clam, and then hit Ctrl + Shift + X, to increse the mesh to include some of the grouploops I created, then I hit Crtl + W, to make it all one group.
Then in subtool, I hit Split Hidden, which splits the mesh into two subtools.
I then went to Geometry > Panel Loops, Polish at 0, thickness at 0.0364, and clicked Panel Loops. This gives the shell thickness and an inside.
I did the same with the other half.
I just added some details with Alpha 58, on the Standard Brush with ZSub. but you can take more care with this, I rushed it to get the general look
Then just rotated the top half of the shell from its furthest pivot at the back to open it up.

Well that’s my way of going about it, maybe someone has a better way.

Cheers

There are many ways to get things done in ZBrush, but Bangers method and explanation should be easy to follow.
