How to smooth brush strokes in 2.5

Hi folks. I’m using Zbrush to do impasto painting. This is in the 2.5 mode. It’s working spectacularly, but, in using different alphas, some have a great shape, but instead of getting smooth strokes I get what looks like tire tracks [see image]. I tried to crack this on my own, but couldn’t. Some features weren’t available in the lazy mouse section. I’m guessing there’s a simple solution somewhere.

I would also like to be able to control the size via pressure so I can taper off the strokes. This may in fact be working but a little too awkwardly.

Hope someone can give the solution soon 'cuz I’m itching to work on my technique. Normally I use Painter and PS for my digital impasto techniques, but I’m finding Zbrush is superior. [You can see example of my digital painting here.]

If you switch to the Freehand Stroke in the stroke palette you can adjust the Spacing slider to get a smoother result. The Picker palette is also worth exploring for how it affects the results.

For adjusting how Tablet pressure affects the result, see the settings in the Preferences>Tablet menu.

If you’re experimenting with 2.5D you might also like to look at the PaintStop plugin (in the Document palette) and dissect some of its brushes - they’re all 2.5D.

Thanks Marcos! That was exactly what I was looking for. Right under my nose the whole time.
