How to set correct zbrush to do a fine line but deep?using Intuous Wacom

Trying and not achieving the result of making a fine line but deep into zbrush 3D.
Using ZBrush-Document008_LI a Sphere 3D (here I show in a Male Head PreSET)I set the DAM brush or rake…no good!
Here I show with lines in pencil the width of a line I wanted, but do not know how to do it in the object. it makes instead a fractured mark in it. When polish( in ‘deformation’ 2 or 5 max) it disapeared totally, which is not what I wanted.
Hope you can help me with that issue.

Hello again.

Dam Standard is a very good brush to make “fine but deep” lines with, but it’s important to understand the role that mesh topology and resolution play in affecting strokes. By default, Zbrush brushes can only displace the existing polygons of the mesh. Just like with your polypaint thread from earlier, the quality of detail is affected by how dense the mesh is (how many polygons or at least how small they are), and by their shape. If you don’t have enough resolution to your mesh and try to make especially fine detail, the best you may get is a “fractured stroke”. Likewise, if the polygons are oddly shaped or stretched, this may affect what kind of detail you can easily sculpt over them.

You may need to subdivide your mesh further to increase the number of polygons, thereby increasing the level of detail the mesh can support. Also tools like Dynamesh can be used to quickly redistribute polygons across the surface of a mesh to make them better suited for sculpting.

You could also enable Sculptris Pro mode for the Dam Standard brush. This will cause the brush to add polygons in real time to the mesh so the stroke is of high quality no matter how many polygons the underlying mesh has.

Both approaches have limitations, and may affect what else you can do with the mesh. You will come to understand the implications for each as you become more familiar with ZBrush.

In the meantime, Sculptris Pro is a lot of fun–especially for a new user. I recommend just messing around with that while you continue to avail yourself of resources like the Pixologic Classroom and Zbrush Documentation.
