How to select previous tools

I’ve been looking for an answer to this and every other post I find gives an answer that I don’t understand at all. I see people do it in Zclassroom and on tutorials on youtube but no one explains how to do it.

I understand that once I create another instance of a tool that the previously created one becomes part of the canvas but how do I get back to it. Even in Zclassroom in the reference image video he has a polysphere, creates the image plane for reference and then can seamlessly go back to editing the sphere he had previously created, how do you do this?

Please explain step by step, I don’t know why this simple of a function seems to be so incredibly esoteric.

Stay in “Edit” mode when working in 3D (use the T key).

There is little reason to ever drop anything to the canvas - unless you want to do 2.5D stuff.

My saved startup document is in 3D (a subtool already in edit mode and saved that way)
The result of this, is that I never have to “draw out” a 3D subtool… I just load them into 3D space.

If you “draw out” a subtool, you must then hit T to enter edit mode.

Wish I could edit some of this stuff. This page is old but still worth a look. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?9095-NEWBIE-LESSON-ONE-The-Interface
