How to remove noise from subtool

Guys, this is a quick one and i’m sure the answer is easy, but being new I have no clue, i’ve trawled the net and found no answer. I have a subtool, which I applied noise to (apply to mesh), i’ve now changed my mind and want to remove the noise…how do i do that?

When I go to noisemaker the delete button is greyed out,

Come on guys anyone?

I guess undo is not an option? Copies of stuff are nice. You could duplicate and then try smoothing one of a couple ways. Maybe do an extract somehow.

Once you apply the noise it converts it to real sculpted mesh, you no longer have any noise to delete. Use Undo History to go back to before you applied it unless you stored a morph target or put the noise on its own layer before applying it.

Thanks guys, unfortunately i’ve opened and closed z brush since i added the noise, so i think i’m stuck with it, as i’ve lost my undo history, What a shame.

Thanks for your replies though,

If you saved as a project that should also save history

I have saved as a project, but my undo history only goes back about 5 steps, so I’m not sure what i’ve done (i am still very new) In future to avoid this happening, what do I do? would it be best to apply the noise to a seperate layer?

Maybe there’s a copy in the Quicksave folder. Could be worthwhile to have a look.

Hi,

I too am pretty new at this and have found that to keep from happening the same as your problem I save an extra project file every time I make any significant changes. Of course this can eat up HD space so I go back when I am sure I don’t need the spare files and delete them. Probably won’t have to do this when I get a bit more comfortable with what I am doing.

Thanks for that, sounds like a good idea, ill do that in future aswell, just so i dont have this situation again.
