How to paint white/grey hairs

Hello everyone!

My first post here, I’ve looked around for similar posts but maybe I can’t use the search functions properly, as I can’t find anything about what I’m after!

I’m trying to paint white hairs on a character of mine, and I’m using a brush I downloaded, but I have no idea how to paint “white” on my materials

After looking around it seems that “white” is just the materials default hue, and there is no true white I can polypaint on.

Here is the brush link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGyy-t4GpCI&t=47s

And attached is an image of my friend I tried to sculpt.

My thoughts are I must make the hair on a separate subtool, make it black, use the brush tool on it, and then paint the hairs I want white. I’m just guessing though. Still new to this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!sean3.pngsean head 130.jpg

You need to make sure that the material you are using doesn’t affect the colors. Materials are separate from polypaint, so if you use a material that has red in it, it will tint everything with that color. Select a white material - such as SkinShade4 (which is the material he’s using in the video you link to) - so that you get a clear idea of what colors you are painting. To really see what colors you have you can turn on Render>Flat. The Flat render takes out all material and shading effects.
