How to orient a mesh for a custom insert mesh brush? (Pixologics docs aren't right)

Hi guys,

I’m trying to create a custom insert mesh brush but the orientation is incorrect. Pixologics documentation only says to make sure the mesh you create is facing the positive Z access (which mine does) but when I create a custom mesh insert the orientation is tilted.

I tried changing the mesh in the preview window under Tools -> Preview as suggested online and I went into the Brush->Modifiers pallete where I can see my insert brush preview (but I can’t adjust it there).

Does anyone know how to adjust the orientation?

It works for me when I change the angel of view on the canvas to Z when I create my insert brushes.

Yes, thanks, I will make that clearer in the online docs.

It works like this:

  1. If you are creating a single insert mesh brush (by pressing the Create InsertMesh button) then the orientation used will be the screen plane, i.e. how the mesh appears on the canvas. This means you can create several insert meshes (or an InsertMultiMesh if you select the ‘append’ option after pressing Create InsertMesh ) simply by changing the rotation of the mesh on screen.

  2. If you are creating an InsertMultiMesh brush by pressing the Create InsertMultiMesh button then the same applies - the screen orientation will be used for all subtools.
