So instead of clicking Append and then going for the Sphere, is there a way to just have the Append sphere icon right on the main UI?

There’s no way to make that work in ZBrushCore. What you could do is assign a hotkey to the Append button. Then when you pressed the hotkey the pop-up would appear at the cursor and you could quickly select the sphere.
