Hi,
I’d like to keep Lightbox always open, even after selecting a brush or alpha from it for example, by double klicking, I DONT want it to close, but stay open and in position on the just selected brush or alpha.
Is there a way to do that?
Thanks
It could cause problems. Just use the comma hot key to open and close it Also you can bring up a floating palette to select all of these from with the spacebar and if enabled right click.
Hey, thanks for the reply, but I’d like to keep it open all the time…
When I try many materials or alphas in a row I dont want to have to open Lightbox every time, scroll through to the next one, pick it, and then go through all of that a 100 times…
IF your object is painted flat color, when you open the materials box it will show you a preview with that material on your object.
Thanks again, I know, but that’s not what I want.
For what it’s worth, in my version of Zbrush 4r6 on win7 64bit, selecting a brush in Lightbox is one of the few things that will make it close. When selecting an alpha, texture, material, noise, fiber, or tool, it stays open as you describe. Since textures, materials and alphas are the sorts of things you might want to rapidly preview, this works out well.
I was unable to locate a preference setting for this behavior. But it really only seems like it would be an issue for you when selecting a brush, something you need only do once per session for a given brush, then reopen with the press of a hotkey ( , ).
If you’re going to leave it open, I recommend setting Lightbox to preview only a single row of thumbs, then scaling window to minimum size by dragging on the bottom in order to minimize its intrusion into the interface.
Hey Spyndel, thanks a lot, it closes after brush selection at least (not on my zbrush pc right now…)
I love switching and trying different brushes in a row often, and finding the next one in folders with literally hundreds of them is just time consuming…
but I suspect your right: no way to change that closing behavior easily…
thx
I’m sorry, I don’t know how to account for the difference in behavior then. On my machine it definitely stays open after material selection, unless I manually close it.
I assume you’re using the most up to date version of Zbrush?
Think of it as an open file dialogue. Once you have selected a file, it closes and the file opens or vice versa. Got 2 monitors? Helpful in many cases. I know I read a post about it causing a problem when left open…maybe that has been fixed. Haven’t found the thread yet.
I’m up to date and have two monitors. Maybe just a reinstall is in order, in any case closing after choosing a brush seems to be normal behaviour, and I dont like it.
I see lightbox more as a browser/explorer, it should stay open I think…But I get your point of course, Doug!
Thanks so much for the feedback guys, in any case, I get back if I find a solution!
cheers
