How to improve the performance of ZBrush?

From the toolbox, I chose the primitive, put him on the canvas, and quickly began to twirl it on the canvas. After that I started The Windows x64 10 Tasks Manager. I was surprised when I saw that the CPU resource consumption, rising to 70%! In our country, electricity is expensive, so I was concerned about this issue.

I was immediately interested, does the ZBrush 4R7 P3, CUDA technology? I went to Pixology website where I read that ZBrush 4R7 P3, works only on processing power and capacity of the video card, it does not matter.

Is it possible to somehow reduce processor power consumption in the program? Maybe something can be changed in the program settings?

Hardware: i5 4690; GTX 1060 6GB; 8GB DDR3.

As far as I know ZBrush is purely CPU based. The best way to improve performance would be to increase the amount of RAM you have - 8 GB is not a lot for a 64 bit system running graphics programs. But ZBrush will still use your CPU intensively if it needs to - it’s designed to get the most out of your system.

As far as saving electricity is concerned, I think you would find it difficult to ensure that particular programs don’t consume more than necessary. But the CPU is only part of the story - the monitor, power unit and graphics card will all consume electricity. If you need to watch your energy usage then you would probably do best to make sure you always put your computer in sleep mode when you’re not using it, even for short periods, and limit your daily computer use.

HTH,

marcus_civis: - I have a power meter, and I compare the readings with different running 3D editors. In ZBrush energy consumption, more than all - 145W, 3DsMax - 120W, Modo - 115W. This consumption of the entire system with a monitor, a router and a AC column with a load when I’m in the program rotate 3D primitive.
In those programs where there is CUDA support motion while rotating primitive softer. ZBrush, No Support video cards, so the movements are more sharp, jagged, because the processor can not give videopower, it can only calculate.

There’s no magic switch to suddenly make ZBrush use your video card. Perhaps there’ll be a change with ZBrush 5, I don’t know. But, as I said, if you want to use ZBrush you’ll have to find other ways to keep down your electricity usage.
