How to force a matcap to stay with an object

I did import a 3D car with several pieces

I split them in several parts

I clic on the main body. Clic on a material. Texture Map. New Texture. Fill. Fill Mat.
the body stays with the material even if I change for a new material. So far so good.

I made that with diferent parts and each time everyting goes well.

I choose the tires. Choose the Mat Gorilla in the Matcap Materials. Texture map. New Texture. Fill. Fill mat.
And baaam when I change for an other material, the matcap gorilla disappear.
What’s the hell is wrong ?

I don’t know where you got the Texture Map workflow from but that’s not how you apply materials in ZBrush. Remove all the Texture Maps on all the subtools then do the following…

  1. Select the subtool.
  2. Select the material.
  3. Turn on ‘Mrgb’ at top of UI.
  4. Go to ‘Color’ menu and click ‘FillObject’.

Repeat the same for other subtools.

Aaaaargh ! Of course ! Thank you so much !

Perhaps worth mentioning that texture maps will cover up any embedded material (as well as polypaint). So if you put a texture map on a model and wanted to use ZBrush materials you can use the Tool>Texture Map>Fill Mat button to add a material to the texture.
