How to erase masks? (ctrl alt problem)

EDIT: Someone on Disc gave me an answer a second after I posted this. Had to turn off Gradient.

Not sure if I’m doing something wrong, when I try to erase part of a mask using ctrl alt it erases kind of weird.
(I masked out a square and ctrl-alted the line going into the center)

Does it say -mask when you do this?
Try this with your mouse instead of your pen and see if it works.
