What you want to do is apply your reference image to a plane and then append that as a SubTool to the model that you’re sculpting. Next, simply turn on Transp (on the right Shelf), then turn Ghost off. Select the SubTool that you wish to sculpt, and go to work.
In the case of the reference you want to use, you might want to use the ImagePlaneX ZTool instead of a plane. This model is meant to let you work with front and side views simultaneously. You’ll find it in Light Box, in the ImagePlane folder, along with a texture template to use for setting up your reference image.
Hi. I tried both ways, but none worked. The imageplage plugin doesnt worked. I load an image but no image applied to the plane. I alto tried zproject an image to a plane but the “activate edit opacity” only makes the model transparent, not rgb info
please help!
To apply an image to a model you need to load it into the Texture palette. Make sure that the desired object is selected in the Tool>SubTool menu, then go to the Tool>Texture Map menu. There you simply click on the empty thumbnail which will pop open the Texture palette so that you can select the desired texture. It will now be rendered on the model.
Please read the PDF included in the ZBrush 3.5 R3 folder. It explains all the changes from earlier versions of ZBrush, including this bit about how to apply a texture to a model.
