How to double geometry

Hiya, I have a model created by someone else in maya. They haven’t modeled the underside of a coat or the top of a neckline, so these areas are one sided. This is an issue for me as I need to dynamesh the model in prep for 3D printing, but then it tries to create a space between these areas and ‘fills the hole’ incorrectly for the legs and head to go into. This person has also done a lot of work in zbrush, so I don’t have the option of exporting it back into maya unfortunately.

How can I make these areas double sided (or give thickness)? I’m fairly new to using zbrush. . .

I’ve tried creating a duplicate subtool and flipping the normals and merging, inflating and extruding (which I still find incredibly confusing within zbrush!) and nothing works how I want it to :S

Any tips greatly apprechiated!

duplicate your mesh (functions as a reference for new depth)
tool>morphtarget>store MT
tool>deformations>inflate (offset the thickness you want)
tool>morphtarget>creatediff mesh

or

tool>subtool>extract

Personally I prefer the 1st

Thank you, the first method works wonderfully for me. I had tried the second extract method before and it crashed my computer unfortunately, to thank you for the alt method

thanks dear beta_channel
