How to discard remaining section after boolean cut

Hi guys.

How do I delete the remaining half after doing a boolean cut with this very thin slice that is visable? I can not seem to figure it out. Thanks a lot

Hello @svennyboi,

To answer your question directly, if each half is completely welded to itself (rather than parts merely intersecting), you could use the mesh visibility shortcuts to hide all but a small piece of the mesh you want to keep, then use Tool> Visibility > Grow All to reveal all connected parts to that mesh. Then the undesired mesh should be completely hidden, and you can use Tool> Geometry> Modify Topology> Delete Hidden.

However, it may be better to simply change your approach here slightly. Instead of using the thin piece of geometry to make the cut, use a thick piece of geometry that completely envelops one half of the target mesh. Then when you perform the Live Boolean operation, do it once with that cutting object being set to “subtraction” mode, and then again with the mode set to “intersection”.

This will create two separate meshes split perfectly at the center as separate subtools.

Good luck!
