How to delete little bits?

I’m obviously new to this program, otherwise I’m sure I wouldn’t be asking this.

But, I’m having a problem with my sculpt getting a little out of control, and I end up wanting to delete some relics of the sculpt. You can see the image attached to see what I am talking about.

I first tried to Z sub it out followed by the smooth tool (was the first method I found via google search). This didn’t work, just made the little bits smaller.

Next I tried the mask/hide mask/delete hidden method, but couldn’t find the “hide mask” button under the Mask submenu…

I’m new at ZBrush but may be able to help:
Step 1. Polygroup the bits
Step 2. Hide this Polygroup of bits
Step 3. Delete Hidden
Any experts out there please feel free to correct me

It appears you are using the Clip Curve Brush. That Brush does not remove geometry but merely “collapses” it to the clipping line. So it can leave these flat bits. There are several ways to clean this up here are a few.

You can use the clipping brush to trim it back to the main form and then smooth, but it would be better, assuming you are using DynaMesh, to remesh at this point then smooth as needed. The following methods work too but if you are using DynaMesh, and you probably should be, then clipping and remeshing should suffice.

You can use Crl + Shift + Alt to hide them and then in Geometry>Modify Topology>Delete Hidden; Then in Geometry>Modify Topology>Close Holes.

You can also use the Slice Curve Brush to give then a separate polygroup and follow the aforementioned delete hidden/close holes process.

Or mask them then in Ploygroups>Group Masked Clear Mask then follow the delete hidden/close holes process.

Or mask them, invert the mask and go to Visibility>HidePt then delete hidden/close holes.
