How to correctly Configure SGV Files

Hello all,

Im having some issues when I import SGV files into Zbrush.
Some times it works well but some other times the mesh I get is filled in the wrong places and empty in the others.

This simple pictogram I made with Illustrator that I received from a client is a perfect example, you can find the SGV file attached:

Sorry I used the Google Drive link because apparently as a new user I am not autorithed to upload files.

Screenshot here.

When I load it into Zbrush the result I get is this, filled all the way like so.

I have been trying to play around with the different compound paths and so but the result is pretty much the same.
Question is, how to properly work over SGVs like that so they can work properly on Zbrush, whether I am the one doing the work or when I get it from someone else and I have to fix it.

Thanks for your help.

Hello @manuelgperez

Sorry you’re having some trouble! Be sure you have read the documentation on the feature you are attempting to use thoroughly.

One thing you’ll find in the documentation, is that the shapes must be closed shapes with no open curves.

It should also be a flattened shape–no Layers. Ive barely used Illustrator in years, but if I recall, sometimes what you get with Layers is that you have a series of overlapping shapes that are masking the underlying shapes, but those underlying shapes are still solid paths. That may be what you are seeing in Zbrush.

I just made this in Illustrator, a simple flattened shape with Pathfinder. It worked fine in Zbrush at the default AI export settings:

So you simply may need to change how you are constructing the shapes in your vector program.
