How to correct scaling of imported vector displacement maps

Hello. This is a basic, newbie question because I am just learning ZBrush. I am moving through the documentation and video tutorials now. But in the meantime I wanted to explore ZB’s vector displacement abilities because I may have need of them for a current project.

I am importing a VDM via Texture > Import, then applying it to a polymesh by pressing the From Mesh button. All is working as expected, but the scale on the Z axis is too great, and the X and Y values are skewed in the positive direction. Before applying From Mesh I reduced the Disp Scale as low as it will go (0.5), which reduces the Z displacement but does not really help. Manually scaling the result along the Z axis does not help, either, because it doesn’t address the skewing in X and Y.

It almost seems as if the displacement has been scaled from an origin that is not the center of the image; perhaps from one of the corners of the polymesh.

Is it possible to import a VDM generated by another application (in this case, Terragen) at the correct scale and proportion?

Thanks.
