How to clear polypaint from layer ?

I often accidentally have MRGB on and add polypaint to layers.
I was wondering if there’s a way to just clear the polypaint info from a layer ?

I’ve found a trick to store a morph target, and switch it in a new layer, which it’s clean of any polypaint info.

However, I wonder if there’s a more streamlined way to accomplish this ?

In the color menu click fill object to overwrite all the polypaint color info with
the selected color.

You can split the layer by pressing Tool>Layers>Split then delete the polypaint layer. This will also mean that the shape layer no longer takes color.

Cheers Matuka, unfortunately that does not get rid of the polypaint element.

Thanks marcus that is fantastic, however there is an odd behavior with split, I cannot see the shape layer anymore unless I hit record.

Did you have record clicked? Do a fill object with record on the 0 and do it again on the 1 setting. It worked for me and kept all mesh changes intact.

it might clear the polypainting, but the layer is still marked with polypaint properties.

look at the paintbrush icon next to the subtool (indicating polypaint), even if you fill the object it will still turn on when you hit record.

ahh I also notice all layers have polypaint by default, therefore it’s useless to try what I wanted here !

So this is what annoyed me, you have a few subtools with layers, since layers force polypaint, it will turn on sooner or later.
So when you switch your subtools, their polypaint will still be on and it becomes hard to see which one you have selected !

I’ll just disregard this as a bug … thanks Matuka, if I ever get accidental paint on, will use your method .

I have yet to begin to explore the layer functionality, and don’t fully grasp
what you are trying to achieve. However, instead of using polypaint, could
you use a texture instead for what you are trying to do? Then you could turn
the texture on or off on the individual subtools.

This is just a minor UI bug which I might report when I get time, I bet you’ll encounter it sooner or later if you work much with layers.
