How To Clear Out RAM

I only have 2GB of RAM in my laptop, and I have my Compact Mem set at 1792. It’s a work machine so I can’t upgrade it. ZBrush is giving me errors fairly often that it can’t complete a given operation due to lack of sufficient memory, then it crashes. Is there a way to manually clear out the RAM allocated to ZBrush just before I initiate an operation that I know will require a lot of memory?

Thanks,
Dustin

Nevermind, that’s what the Compact Now button does. Dumb question.

Also make sure that your other Preferences settings aren’t pushing things too much. The undo settings really should be left at 4. And you shouldn’t set MaxPolysPerMesh to more than double the default value. With your system, that would be about 12 million, tops.

All those settings are still at default. I hardly ever use undo, the morph brush is my friend.

My game plan is to get a Macbook Pro and run ZB on it in a WinXP64 environment until ZB4 is released. I need Windows for 3ds max anyway.
