Hi there,
I’m trying to bend a sword from the start of the mesh but when I try to use the bend arc modifier it seems like it’s only able to bend the mesh from the middle.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael.
Try using the Bend Curve or the Deformer options instead.
To offer better advice than that, we need to see specifically what you’re trying to do.
Thanks for the reply
I’m trying to bend a katana. You can see a screenshot.
Bend curve and deformer give me not the best results. Bend arc is perfect for that but I don’t know is there a way to change the origin of the bend curve?
Are you sure you arent overthinking it a bit? Could you simply rotate the blade slightly after performing the bend arc operation that you favor, so the base side come up to the hilt and the tip bends downward?
If not, then Deformer might be a little complicated to use, but Bend Curve should get the job done. The key is to keep the curve resolution as minimal as possible, so the curve is smooth.
Forgive the crude approximation of your sword here, but you see I’ve limited the blade curve to 3 control points. It’s then a simply matter of shift-rotating the mesh so it locks in parallel with the screen plane, and sliding those control points down/around slightly until you get the result you want. Keeping your blade geometry as low poly as possible during this operation will also help to minimize distortion:
Thank you Spyndel, I handled that with bend curve and its perfect !
Have a great day,
Michael
