How on earth do I create a hollow model? (Like a vase). I cannot access Youtube tuts.

Hi guys,

How do I create a hollow model? I cannot access youtube where I am at so I need a text description.

I’m making a vase but I need to make it hollow and I swear there was a way where you had one subtool on top, then the “subtracting” one below it with the little icon set to the overlapping circles and then did some kind of projection.

Does anyone know how to do this that could tell me or point me to a non-video source?

For creating a shell using Dynamesh, see the bottom of this page:

Oh wow I forgot about this thread. Thanks guys!

lol, No problem.

I use panel loops a lot…
I just sculpt the exterior shape, in dynamesh, with a rather high resolution.
Then I mask what I want for the shell…
then hit CTRL+W (this creates polygroups where the mask is)

  • and then I use panel loops (Tool > Geometry >Edgeloop > Panel Loops)

CTRL+ SHIFT -click on the parts you want , and then hit Visibility > Grow All

you can create really cool thin shell designs with it… all these were done within few minutes, using mask and deformation, etc.
