How obsolete are Zbrush 3 tutorials with 3.1?

I was contemplating buying the Meats Meier tutorial, which has been highly recommended on this forum. Seeing that with the 3.1 update, the interface is radically different and there are a slew of new features, I’m wondering if it will be hard to follow.

Anyone know if Gnomon or another school/company plans to release a new DVD tutorial in light of this update?

FYI I’m at a beginners level with Zbrush.

not really obsolete at all, the interface change isnt really major, just a rearranging than a overhaul.

good to know

If your completely new to zbrush, then in my opinion, it may will cause some serious confusion. I am a little rusty on ZB, but still found it that bit more more confusing applying things learned in the new Meats tut’s to the new 3.1 interface.

The basic workflow, and techniques described and shortcut keys are basically the same though.

You can go back to the old interface by clicking on the two arrows on the top right (there is a couple of arrows, one to change the color interface, and one to change the arrangement). But some icons are different, like the 3D sclupting brushes.

Denis.

Speaking for myself, had ordered and spent time with Meat’s DVD

in addition to Digital Tutors.

Upon first gliimpse of the new interface, my heart sank to my
stomach.

Had posted this reaction in one of the threads.

After a brief "dance " with the new kid, found that the information
contained in both DvD’s are worth the price and the small effort
to “translate” one to the other.

To summarize, buy Meat’s DVD.

Thanks for that tip…totally missed that one.

Man, I feel like a dope, maybe cos I am

Yep, you can get it quite close to how things were. If you change the colours you can feel even more at home by making it look like ZB2

Let me know if its working fine as well( crashes, learning curve etc, so that I upgrade 3 to 3.1 soon
