Hello @untalmau ,
You are looking at 2.5 D copies of your mesh that have been “snapshotted” to the canvas. These are purely 2D images of the model that have depth information, but not fully editable 3D meshes.
To understand this, you need to review the “Getting Started” section of the Zbrush documentation. This section explains the 2.5D canvas, and how you must first draw out a copy of a mesh, then before doing anything else, activate Edit mode (T) to work on it as a 3d model. If you do not activate Edit mode you will continue to draw out 2.5 copies of the mesh.
I can’t say for certain why the snapshot occurred–different things could cause this. The simplest explanation is the basic shortcut for snapshotting (Shift+S). Or you could have exited Edit mode for some reason. Please keep your version of the program up to date to minimize the chance of running into a bug that has already been fixed. ZBrush 2022.08 is a free upgrade for all registered users of ZBrush 2022.
In any event you can clear the canvas of all 2D information with the Ctrl + N shortcut. Then simply draw out your Tool and enter Edit mode ( T ). Activate polyframe mode if you want to view the polyframe. If you then save the file as a project (.ZPR) file (File> Save As) while it is already in Edit mode, it should load already in Edit mode every time you load the file.
Hope that helps!
thank you thank you very much.
I had heard of the 2.5 D but I didn’t know what this was.
and yes… I think by mistake I pressed SHIFT + S
since it has happened to me on several occasions, and I didn’t know how to solve it.
thank you.
